Character setup: stats, crit, and a build you can trust

What to enter where on the gear editor — the stat block, attack and damage fields, crit rate, and how imports are verified.

Covers Onboarding, Gear Editor

Where each fact lives

Everything about your character lives in the gear editor: IGN, Level, Class, World, the Character Stats panel, and one drawer per equipment slot. Once your core stats are filled in, the Character Stats panel collapses to a one-line summary; when something core is blank it opens itself and lists what is Missing.

Two shortcuts can fill the stats for you:

  1. Import stats (above Character Stats) reads a screenshot of your in-game stat window or of a MapleScouter page.
  2. A preset (see Quick start) fills a starting template you then correct.

Import / Export in the header saves or loads the whole build as a file.

Before any import, confirm the class, level, and world shown are actually yours — an import against the wrong class skews everything downstream. Changing class resets your HEXA Matrix or Erda Link levels, and the page asks you first.

The Character Stats panel's own instruction, quoted exactly: "Enter stats with class buffs, decent Combat Orders, decent Sharp Eyes, and familiars active." Open What are class buffs? in the panel for the list: leave off guild skills, potions, Echo of Hero, Legion Might, Ursus, MVP, VIP, Home and Red Star buffs, and activated link skills, because the site adds those itself.

The stat fields, one by one

Primary and Secondary stats (Xenon has three equal main stats) each split into three fields:

  • Base (before %) — the value before any % applies.
  • % Stat — your total % stat from gear, potential, and links.
  • Flat (symbols, not affected by %) — flat bonuses such as symbols, which are not affected by %.

Attack follows the same shape: Base ATT (before %) and % ATT. Under each group a line shows the effective total the site works out from what you typed. Then the damage fields: Boss Damage %, IED %, Damage %, Final Damage (stat window), Crit Rate %, and Crit Damage %, followed by Abnormal Status Damage %, the cooldown reduction fields, and Arcane Force (AF) and Sacred Power (SP) under Region Power.

Two mistakes to avoid:

  1. Pasting your final combined total from the game into a Base field — that double-counts the % part.
  2. Entering symbols both as Flat and again inside Base — symbols belong in Flat only.

Crit rate and its default

The panel honors the instruction above: enter the stat window as shown, with class buffs and the listed supports active — the calculators apply their own modeling on top, and each tool states its own assumptions in its note.

Crit Rate % starts empty. Until you type a value, a faint placeholder number shows the default the calculators use — a stand-in that keeps them working, not a fact about your character. The moment you enter your actual rate, that number replaces the default everywhere. So type the crit rate you actually have.

Over-cap crit

For classes whose crit rate is capped at 100% in the stat window, enter the rate the window displays. Once your entered rate reaches 100, an Over cap by % field appears — enter the known excess there. Example: a build with 107% crit is 100 in Crit Rate % plus 7 in Over cap by %. Never guess at hidden excess — leave it out unless you know it. The split matters because knowing the excess above the cap tells the optimizers how much crit can be safely reallocated: Hyper Stat can free part of a crit hyper stat level even when the excess covers only part of it, while an unknown excess keeps that row held. Separately, the Legion Artifact tool leaves crit out of its ranking until your exact crit rate is entered.

Vicious Shot classes are the exception: their field reads "Crit Rate % (your real total, over 100 counts)" — enter the uncapped actual total there; there is no separate excess field.

Verify what was imported

After a screenshot import or preset, walk the page top to bottom once:

  1. IGN, class, level, and world.
  2. Each stat field — Base, %, Flat, attack, and the damage fields.
  3. The gear grid: stars, flames, scroll state, and potential lines per item.

Check that Crit Rate % holds your real rate rather than the faint default, and that no field holds a value you cannot point at in game. Every calculator reads these fields, so two minutes here improves every recommendation.
